Completion for the River Rock Casino in Geyserville, California

BDL Mill was pleased to participate in the construction of the River Rock Casino in Alexander Valley, California for the Dry Creek Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians. The structure is a metal-framed tent covering almost 72,000 sq. ft. BDL Mill supplied and installed the doors, frames and hardware. The doors and frames are stained red oak which matches the extensive millwork that BDL Mill supplied and installed. The project presented unique challenges for our design team, as some of the door frames included integral full-height wood-framed side lights. Several of these side light frames were set on a segmented radius which followed the sloping line of the outside wall of the tent structure. Further complicating this work was the fact that these radius frames had to be designed in such a way as to fit the fixed steel column endpoints and header conditions. The on-site Swinerton Team, namely Terry McKellips and Andy Beck, was instrumental in communicating these special jobsite conditions to insure the perfect fit that was achieved. Our field superintendent, Gino Guidi, was invaluable as he provided a coordination effort, balancing quality and timing to finish the job on time and maintain a high standard of fit and finish.

To make the job even more interesting and challenging, the project was on a fast-track production schedule. To meet this schedule, BDL Mill dispatched our own truck to Tacoma, Washington and picked up the custom full glass oak doors ourselves. We brought them to our Salt Lake City mill for machining and prefinishing. The prefinished frames and doors were then shipped to the jobsite less than 70 days from the award of contract. Notably, the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's holidays fell within that time frame as well.

Both the Owners and the Swinerton Team have been very pleased with the BDL Doors, Frames and Hardware Division during this project. The results of our work are good examples of the commitment to excellence that we share here and among our Swinerton counterparts. Our manager, Stephen Haner and Scot Carper, look forward to future challenges and opportunities to work with Swinerton on additional projects.
